New Jersey Bridal Shows Go “Hyperlocal”

Traditionally, a bridal show (or showcase or expo) takes place at a banquet facility, hotel or convention center, and NJ wedding vendors from various areas exhibit their products and services to engaged couples that come to these events to find local services. In 2010, I’ve been seeing a growing number of these bridal shows throughout New Jersey take on a more “local” feel, with Chambers of Commerce and business associations being the producers.

Below are examples of 3 big events coming up that you may want to consider attending:

Saturday, March 20th from 10am-3pm – 1st Annual Red Bank Wedding Walk – http://www.njwedding.com/redbankweddingwalk (sponsored by the Red Bank RiverCenter) – a one-day event that will introduce prospective brides, grooms, wedding attendants and their families to Red Bank, NJ as a one-stop shopping destination for weddings.

Sunday, March 21st from 12-5pm – Bridal Fair 2010 at Wildwoods Convention Center – http://www.njwedding.com/wildwoodsbridalfair (sponsored by the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce) – a chance to visit the Wildwood boardwalk and plan your wedding at the same time! Featuring over 60 exhibitors of local wedding professionals, live entertainment, various prizes and much more!

Start of the Wedding Road Show on LBI event at the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce office in Ship Bottom, NJ

Sunday, April 18th from 10am-4pm – Wedding Road Show on Long Beach Island – http://www.njwedding.com/weddingroadshow (sponsored by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism) – spend the day touring the LBI region’s premiere wedding venues, meeting local specialists while sampling, seeing demos and earning prizes along the way, including a $15,000 LBI Dream Wedding Package!

There’s a bigger “trend” going on with these types of events, because it helps create and promote certain regions of New Jersey as a “destination” for weddings. There were also some past shows like these in Morristown and in Nutley, where the local business associations got together for a “hyperlocal” event, inviting only businesses from town to participate and spreading the word in the community.
